Grandpa Hartley
We had a very long week this past week. I was laid of my job, Tucker was a little sick, but all irrelevant in the fact that we lost our dear Grandpa. Early Saturday morning (Oct. 10) Grandpa Hartley passed away. He had complications from a surgery that led to a heart attack. Though Grandpa was 86 years old and his health had been going down hill for many years, his passing so suddenly still came as a shock to the family.
We drove up to Idaho on Wednesday to stay in a hotel to be there for the funeral service on Thursday. The service was beautiful, Grandpa's grand-kids were most all there, and all his great-grand-kids were there.
We have many memories of Grandpa, and I am grateful that he was able to see Tucker and Eli, however I wish Tucker could have been old enough that would be able to remember Grandpa for the rest of his life, though I think because he saw grandpa several times a year and is only 4 1/2 years old, he will not remember him.
We are all very sad and feel a vacancy in our hearts, but our real sadness and concern is for Grandma. She is very strong and has handled her huge loss very well so far, but I worry for her and will continue to pray for her comfort and peace as she tries to continue her life on earth.

This summer we learned about geocaching and Tucker, Papa Jim, and I went many times. Tucker loved the "treasure hunting"
Tucker's 4th Birthday
Tucker said he wanted to go bowling, however it turns out it was not bowling that he wanted it was the arcade games. Tuck got enough tickets to trade for a carton of bubblegum balls and a slinky!
4th of July
We planned to go up to the Blue Lakes with some on the 4-wheelers and others in the truck, we were going to have a picnic lunch and do a little fishing but..........
the truck did not make it!!
Eli slept in the truck the entire time it was stuck

Grandpa's 90th Birthday Party
On August 29, 2009 we celebrated Grandpa Bacon's 90th birthday party. (Grandpa's birthday is actually on September 21). Grandpa's friends and family gathered at Leeds City Park for dinner and cake. Tucker had lots of fun playing with his second cousins which he had never met, Eli had fun trying to escape to the play ground or beg anyone with food to share with him. Grandpa said it was the best birthday he's ever had!!!
